Avon Allen

Avon Allen, 74, of the Marian Manor Healthcare Center in Glen Ullin, and formerly of New Salem, died Saturday, March 14, 2009 at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM Central Time on Saturday, March 21, at the Word of Life Baptist Church in New Salem, with the Rev. Gaylen Lennick, officiating. Burial of her ashes will take place in the family plot in Highland Acres Cemetery near Jamestown, ND in the spring. Avon was born April 17, 1934 in Jamestown, North Dakota, the daughter of Harold and Marie (Knuth) Ringuette. She was raised in that area and graduated from school in Jamestown. She furthered her education in Texas completed a Bachelors Degree in Geriatric Care, became a nurse, and was engaged in social work. After the untimely death of her husband, she moved to Minneapolis, MN and received her diploma and license in Ministerial Studies. She married Corie Allen in Minneapolis. She retired from Hennepin County Social Services after the death of her husband and moved to New Salem. She was active in the Word of Life Baptist Church with her puppet ministry, teaching Sunday school, and any other task at hand. She recently became ill and entered the Marian Manor Health Care Center in Glen Ullin in February of 2009. She is survived by her two brothers and sisters-in-law: Richard and Betty Ringuette, New Salem; and Ronald and Marie Ringuette, Jamestown, ND.
