Barb Dohrmann

Funeral service for Barb Dohrmann, 74, of Taylor will be 10:00 a. m. , Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Living Word Fellowship, Dickinson, ND with Pastor Tim Voth officiating. Burial will follow in Immanuel Cemetery, rural Taylor. Visitation for Barb will be from 12:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. , Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with a prayer service being held at 7:00 p. m. Barbara went to be with the Lord on June 30, 2016 at St. Benedict’s Health Center in Dickinson. Barbara Faye Johnston was born in Grand Forks, ND on August 4, 1941 to DeWitt (Dewey) and Dorothy (Newgard) Johnston. She attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from St. James High School in 1959. She attended UND for one year and Aakers Business School. Barb worked as a secretary to the Dean of the UND Law School in Grand Forks, NDSU Plant Pathology Department and Animal Science Department where she met and married Fred while he was working on his master’s degree in economics, and moved to his farm in Taylor, ND where they spent many wonderful years together. They raised 4 wonderful children; Jackie, Joshua, Jeremy and Jason and their family has given them so much joy and wonderful times, attending church and church functions, 4-H and school functions over the years. Barb’s faith and family were the most important things in her life and she always felt God had blessed her in so many ways and that her life changed when she invited the Lord into her heart as her personal savior. She treasured the times she spent with her 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and they all have given her so much laughter and joy. She hopes she left them all with many memories over the years and a love and trust for the Lord in each of their lives. Barb is a member of Living Word Fellowship where she participated in Women’s Ministry, Bible Lenten Services, Lunch with a Bunch and was in charge of the greeting ministry at Living Word Fellowship for many years. Barb was courageous in her 6 year fight with cancer. She was so thankful and blessed to have Fred, who was a great caregiver for all these years and who never complained; a family to get her through the tough times and always be there for her; for friends and relatives; Pastor Tim & Sharon; and all who never stopped praying, sending cards, and encouraging her through it all. Her faith and trust in the Lord grew during this trial and she always felt His presence in her life. She always hoped during her fight with cancer that she also encouraged others to get through their trials. Barb loved spending time in her flower gardens, reading, traveling and visiting with people. She also enjoyed crafting as she and Jackie had a craft business for 10 years, attending many craft shows. She is survived by her husband and best friend, Fred, Taylor; one daughter, Jackie (Tracey) Hoff; three sons, Joshua (Amy), Jeremy, Jason (Michelle), all of Dickinson; four grandchildren, Amber (Kyle) Kuntz, Beaudi, Rylie and Ian; four great-grandchildren, Ava, Brody, Finley Joy and Grayson; one sister, Patricia Deziel, Grand Forks, ND; sister-in-law, Betty Johnston, Davenport, IA; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Allan Johnston; and one granddaughter, Ashley Marie Hoff. A memorial has been established for Barb at Living Word Fellowship, PO Box 563, Dickinson, ND.
