Barbara Klein

A Funeral Service for Barbara R. Klein, 91, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2018 at St. Michael’s Cemetery, rural Hettinger County, with Father Gary Benz officiating.  The cemetery can be found 8 miles south of Lefor, ND and 6 miles east on 58
th
street.  Please bring a chair to enjoy the entirety of the funeral service.


Barbara R. Klein, 91, of Dickinson, passed away, Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the Richardton Health Center, Richardton ND.


Barbara was born October 4, 1926, daughter of Joseph and Barbara (Holz) Schabary, on a farm near Lefor ND.  She attended school at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic School in Lefor.


On November 24, 1942, Barbara married Peter Klein at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, in Lefor ND.  They began farming in Hettinger County.  To this union, five sons were born:  (twins) Daniel and David, Francis, Leland, and Gene.  The family then moved to the Lefor area where they took over the Schabary homestead.  In 1979, they retired and moved into Dickinson.  Everyone loved her creamed chicken and sugar kuchen.  To stay active, Barbara and Peter worked at various jobs, most recently cooking at St. Anthony Club. They enjoyed dancing to old time music, playing cards and watching Molly B on TV.  Peter passed away on July 11, 2010. She continued to make Dickinson her home living at Subiaco Manor.


She was a member of the St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church Choir, Christian Mothers, St. Pius Verein, St. Anthony Club and Eagles Club.


Barbara is survived by her five sons: Dan (Cindy) Klein, Spokane WA; Dave (Ida) Klein, Mossyrock WA; Francis (Sandy) Klein, Dickinson ND; Lee Klein, Lefor ND; and Gene (Andi) Klein, Brandon SD; eight grandchildren:  Jeff (Dena) Klein, William Klein, Denise Klein, David (Adriana) Klein; twins Michael (Amanda) Klein and Mark (Lori) Klein; twins Kyle Klein and Keira (Kyle) Anderson; eight great-grandchildren, and two sisters: Anna Stein and Mabel (Ray) Stein.


She is preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Barbara Schabary, her husband, Peter; her sisters: Elsie Sadowsky and Bertha Erbstoesser, her brothers: Anton and Alex Schabary.


As per her wishes, Barbara will be cremated.  Interment and a service will be held in July, St. Michael’s Cemetery, rural Hettinger County.
