Barbara Messmer

Barbara Messmer passed into her eternal life on May 21, 2005 at St. Benedict?s Health Center, where she resided for four years. A memorial mass will be 10 a. m. , Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Jeff Zwack celebrating. There will be a rosary and prayer service at 7 p. m. Monday, at Price-Murphy Funeral Home. Barbara Beckler was born June 12, 1917 to Christ and Mary Oster Beckler. She married George P. Messmer on July 21, 1936. They resided in Dunn County near the Hirschville area and farmed. She entered the marriage with eight step-children. There were nine more born to them. After her husband?s death, she moved to Dickinson, where she went to work at various restaurants until age 70. She then continued to bake and cook for her children. She had many friends, some who knew her from her work at the restaurants. She will be missed by her family. She was always there for all of us who loved her to the fullest. Her faith and prayer were a very great part of her life. She is survived by her children, Mary, Elsie, Frank, Harold, Jane, Shirley, Lee and Jerry; step-children: Sister Louise Marie, Jack, George, and Bert; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents; one son, Richard; step-children, Joe, Jerome, Rosie and Leo; three sisters and one brother, and one grandchild.
