Barbara Rettinger

Funeral Services for Barbara L. Rettinger, 88, will be 10:00 a. m. on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, New England with Father Basil Atwell, celebrating. Interment will follow in St. Mary?s Cemetery. Visitation is Monday from 11:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. with a rosary and vigil service at 7:00 p. m. led by Deacon Jerry Volk at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel. Barbara passed away Friday, July 16, 2004 at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center. Barbara was born February 8, 1916 to Nick and Josephine (Kubischta) Letang in Dickinson, North Dakota. She was raised and attended schools in Dickinson, graduating from Dickinson High School. She earned her Teaching Certificate from Dickinson Normal School and began teaching country schools in Ash Coulee District, south of Dickinson. On June 16, 1941 she married Nick Rettinger in Dickinson, ND. Barbara continued to teach for several years after being married. Together the couple began farming which they enjoyed for the next 40 years. Barbara found enjoyment in bowling, playing bridge, painting, dancing and using the computer. You were never at her home, nor did she ever go to another home, without having fresh baked goods. Barbara will be greatly missed by her husband, Nick of Dickinson, ND; sisters-in-law, Irene Letang of Dickinson, ND, Ruth Letang of Great Falls, MT and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Hatzenbuhler; two brothers, Matt and Joe Letang.
