Funeral Service for Beatrice Spear, 94 will be 2:00 p. m. , Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson with Pastor Janel Kohler officiating. Visitation for Beatrice will be from 4:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. Tuesday, with Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson and continue from 8:00 a. m. to 1:00 p. m. Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Stevenson Funeral Home. Beatrice passed away Sunday, November 14, 2010 at Evergreen Inn in Dickinson, ND. Beatrice Eid was born January 7, 1916 in Pigeon Falls, WI, to Bernt and Anna (Tangen) Eid. She was brought up on a farm near Lemmon, SD. Beatrice received her education in the rural schools and graduated from Mott High School in 1933. She then went on attend Dickinson State Teacher College and taught in rural schools for four years. Later she received her beautician?s license from Lee?s Beauty School in St. Paul, MN. She owned and operated a beauty shop for eight years. ON August 8, 1937, she married Eugene Spear at Lemmon, SD. When her husband was discharged from the Army after serving for five years, they moved to Dickinson. Beatrice worked as a receptionist and Traffic Manager at KDIX from 1948-1958. She later worked as a receptionist and office manager for local optometrists for twenty years, retiring in 1981. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, and sports on TV. She was pas president of Zonta Club and Dickinson RSVP. Beatrice is survived by a niece, Marilyn Kelley, Round Rock, TX and a nephew, Richard Rasmussen, Minneapolis, lifelong friend, Marie Kaiser, Dickinson and several great-nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene in 2004 and her parents, two brothers, a sister and a nephew. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be made to Heartland Hospice, 30 West 7th Street, Dickinson, ND, 58601 or Evergreen 2143 6th Ave West Dickinson, ND 58601.
