Benjamin Laird

Benjamin A. Laird, 71, of Hebron, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2012 at St. Benedict’s Health Center in Dickinson.


Benjamin was known by everyone as “Jerry” Laird. Jerry was born on July 13, 1941 in Webster, WI, the son of Harry & Mattie Mearl (Carter) Laird. He received his education in Georgia, graduating from High School in Augusta, Georgia. Jerry worked construction and various other jobs for several years. On July 2, 1966, Jerry married Janet Ruth Gordon at Aiken, South Carolina. Through the years, he attended colleges and completed two teaching degrees from Dickinson State College. Jerry taught at Prairie Learning Center for many years, retiring in 2003. Since his retirement, he has made Hebron his home. Jerry enjoyed being a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Dickinson. He also served as the treasurer of the Hebron Lions Club. Jerry loved and cherished his cats Bobbi, Grayson and old friend Chadwick.


Jerry is survived by his wife Janet.


He is preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law.
