Benjamin Simnioniw

Funeral Mass for Benjamin Simnioniw, 36, of Menoken, will be held at 10:00 a. m. , Thursday, December 31, 2015 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield with Father William E. Ruelle, celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Visitation for Ben will be held from 5:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. , Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson with a prayer service being held at 7:00 p. m. Ben passed away Sunday, December 27, 2015 at his home in Menoken, surrounded by his family, after a long two year battle with cancer. Benjamin Scott Simnioniw was born December 18, 1979, the son of Arlene (Haider) and Bruce Simnioniw. He grew up and graduated from High School in South Heart in 1998. Ben graduated with honors in 2000 from North Dakota State School of Science at Wahpeton with an Associate of Science degree in Diesel Mechanics. He met the love of his life Carrie Brauhn in Dickinson and they were married on May 17, 2003 in Dickinson, ND. To this union three children were born, Emalee, Elise and Uriah Simnioniw. He worked at Butler Machinery Co. in Fargo and Bismarck for 16 years where he was a lead mechanic and floor supervisor. He enjoyed mentoring and working with “his guys. ” Ben enjoyed fishing, softball, darts, playing cards, taking care of his yard, and watching the Detroit Lions. Ben was a devoted husband and father. He loved playing and snuggling with his kids. Ben was an inspiration to many and will be greatly missed as a husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Ben is survived by his wife, Carrie Simnioniw of Menoken, ND; mother and step-father, Arlene and Jim Frank of Beulah, ND; children, Emalee (6), Elise (4) and Uriah (6 months) Simnioniw; brothers, Lyn (Marsha) Verville of Walhalla, ND, Jamie (Tonya) Simnioniw of Bismarck, ND, Travis (Tracy) Simnioniw of Dickinson, ND; sister, Lisa (Kurt) Weikum of Dickinson, ND; grandfather, Jake Haider of Belfield, ND; in-laws, Rich and Mary Ann Brauhn of Dickinson, ND; sister-in-law, Shari (Cal) Berger of Dickinson, ND; brothers-in-law, Dan (Laura) Brauhn of Ottumwa, IA, David (Emily) Brauhn of Walla Walla, WA; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Bruce Simnioniw; grandparents, Sam and Cecilia Simnioniw, Ella Haider and Della Haider.
