Liturgy of the Word service for Ben Kirschenheiter, 98, of Dickinson, formerly of Lefor/Taylor, will be 7:00 p. m. , Monday, March 17, 2014 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson with Deacon Bob Stockert officiating. Burial will take place this spring in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Visitation for Bernard will be 1:00 p. m. to 4:30 p. m. , Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Stevenson Funeral Home. Ben passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014 at St. Benedicts Health Center in Dickinson. Bernard Kirschenheiter was born on March 1, 1916 the son of George and Eva (Berguesh) Kirschenheiter on the family farm south of Taylor, ND. He attended the Aurora School District #31 in the 1920’s. Ben farmed south of Taylor all of his life. He moved and has made his home in Dickinson since 1972. Ben enjoyed going back out to the farm to lend a helping hand with the farm work, especially cultivating corn. After his move to town, Ben traveled with some special friends, seeing the west coast and California in their travels. He enjoyed playing pinochle, 31, and many other card games. He was also a fisherman, a bowler and he enjoyed attending family gatherings and birthdays. Ben was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson and a past member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church of Lefor, also a member of KC’s of Lefor, Eagles Club, St. Anthony’s Club, Senior Citizens and RSVP all of Dickinson. Survivors include his sister, Lena Naumann of Dickinson; close nephew and his family, Ted (Irene) Naumann of Dickinson; sister-in-law, Theresa Kirschenheiter of Mansfield, OH; niece-in-law, Diane (Leo) Sand of South Heart; and many more nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; brother, Joe Kirschenheiter; brother-in-law, Henry Naumann; and nephews, Herman and Ken Naumann. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church of Lefor or to St. Benedicts Health Center in Dickinson.
