A Funeral Mass for Bernice K. Meyer, 84, of Dickinson, will be 10:00 a. m. , Thursday, January 30, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Keith Streifel celebrating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date. Visitation for Bernice will be 2:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. , Wednesday, January 29th at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Rosary and Vigil service being held at 7:00 p. m. Bernice passed away January 26, 2014 at her residence at Hawk’s Point in Dickinson, ND. Bernice was born December 31, 1929 in Richardton, the daughter of John G. and Pauline (Steckler) Barth. She grew up on the family farm, attended school and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. Following graduation, in her early years, Bernice worked at Cloverdale and Schnell Livestock. Bernice later worked at Stark County Court House at Register of Deeds until she retired in the early 1990’s. Bernice was united in marriage to Fred Meyer on January 23, 1956 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dickinson. The couple was blessed with four children and made Dickinson their home for their entire life. After Fred passed (2010), Bernice moved and has resided in Hawk’s Point since 2011. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren and keeping track of them through email. Bernice was fond of family history and genealogy. She enjoyed gardening, stamp collecting, bingo, cards, monthly lunch with former retired co-workers and she always remained hopeful with her entries into contests and sweepstakes. Bernice was a woman liked by all who met her. Bernice was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and St. Ann’s woman’s guild. Bernice is survived by her sons, Larry (Jane) Meyer of Fairfield, MT, Steve (Sandy) Meyer of Watford City; daughter, Nancy (Dale) Bishop of Rapid City, SD; five grandchildren, Brent (Audrey) Meyer of Seattle, WA, Jeff (Sandra) Meyer of Houston, TX, Michelle Meyer of Great Falls, MT, Matthew Meyer of Fairfield, MT, step-grandchild, Steven (Joye) Bishop of Phoenix, AZ; and one great-grandchild, Payton Meyer; sisters, Lorraine Thompson of Sacramento, CA, Lucille Wendt of Medical Lake, WA, Carolyn (Eddie) Pechtl of Bismarck; brothers, Vincent (Rita) Barth of Hebron, John (Edith) Barth of Bismarck, Gerald (Mary Ann) Barth of Genoa, WI; sisters-in-law, Rosie Barth of Dickinson, and Whitey (Barth) Koppinger of Bismarck. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Pauline Barth; husband, Fred Meyer; son, Michael Meyer; brothers, Larry and Robert Barth; brothers-in-law, Bill Thompson and Don Wendt.
