Bernice N. Stark, 82, of Baker passed away Sunday, February 15, 2004 at the Fallon Medical Complex. She was born March 21, 1922 at home the daughter of Earl and Florence (Abrams) Stark of the Carlyle, MT area. She attended the rural Slater school and lived most of her active life at the family ranch home. Bernice moved to Baker after the death of her parents and resided there until she entered the nursing home in Wibaux in 1998. She dearly loved all of her nieces and nephews and enjoyed babysitting for anyone that needed her. Bernice was a 4-H member and worked on several different projects. She enjoyed playing cards, embroidery work, baking, going fishing at Beaver creek, and playing checkers. She enjoyed the Senior Citizens activities and assisted by providing transportation for several of the seniors and inviting them to her home for coffee or meals. Bernice especially liked to ride her 3-wheeler. While at the Wibaux nursing home, she assisted some of her fellow residents if she could and enjoyed all of the activities. Life gave her a heavy cross to bear but she did the very best she could and always had a friendly handshake, a cheerful smile and chuckle. Preceding her in death are her parents; a sister, Dorothy Myers Bonness; a brother, Earl Jr. ; and a nephew, Wayne Myers. Survivors include a sister Laura (Ted) Bruha; a brother, Wayne (Mary) Stark, all of Baker; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation hours will begin Wednesday, Feb. 18, from 9 AM until 9 PM at Stevenson Funeral Home. A Funeral service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 19, at 11 AM at the Baker Community Church with Bernice?s nephew, Rev. Paul Myers officiating. Committal services will take place at Bonnievale cemetery. A luncheon will be served following the graveside service in the church fellowship hall.
