A funeral Mass for Bertha Anton, 94, of Dickinson, will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Father Shannon Lucht celebrating. Burial will take place at a later date. Visitation for Bertha will be 4:00 pm-5:00 pm, Wednesday, December 14th at Stevenson Funeral Home with a rosary service being held at 4:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday, December 15th at the funeral home from 9:00 am-12:00 pm and one hour prior to the service at the church. Bertha Anton passed away Saturday, December 10, 2016 at St. Luke’s Home in Dickinson. Bertha was born on October 6, 1922 in the Lefor area, daughter of Christ and Katie (Blasy) Anton. She was the oldest of 14 children. Bertha was admitted to Grafton State School on July 6, 1934, at the age of 11, when her parents could no longer care for her in their home. She lived at her Grafton home for 53 years. Bertha was admitted to the Hillcrest Care Center in Hettinger, ND in August 1988. She later moved to St. Luke’s Nursing Home in Dickinson to be closer to her family in January 2000. Before her confinement to a wheelchair, Bertha had a great sense of humor and enjoyed playing practical jokes on her fellow residents. Bertha enjoyed watching her siblings sing and dance at St. Luke’s. She especially enjoyed listening to Ole’ Time music and participating in the Catholic Church activities. Bertha could also be found sitting outside on the swing watching bubbles coming from the bubble machine. Bertha and her family will be forever grateful for the care she received while at St. Luke’s Home. Bertha is survived by her three sisters, Appie (Tony) Fichter of Dickinson, Cathleen (Victor) Oukrop of Taylor, and Mary Ann (Don) Chantry of Rapid City, SD; sisters-in-law, Hattie Anton of Dickinson, Antonia Anton of Dickinson, Loretta Anton of Yuma, AZ; brothers-in-law, Louis Helfrich and Leo Mischel; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Christ and Katie Anton; brothers, Martin, Albert, Edward, Donald and George Anton; sisters, Eleanor Beaudoin, Jeannette Mischel, Anna Helfrich, Pauline Fichter and Helen Beaudoin.
