Funeral Mass for Bertha Anton, 87, of Bismarck, ND, formerly of Dickinson, ND will be 10:00 a. m. , Monday, November 30, 2009 at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Lefor, ND with Father Patrick Moore celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery in Lefor. Visitation will be from 1 p. m. to 9 p. m. on Sunday, November 29 with a Rosary and Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson, ND.


Bertha passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at MedCenter One Hospital in Bismarck, ND.


Bertha (Banyai) Anton was born July, 17, 1922 to Carl and Katie (Bogner) Banyai. She grew up in the Lefor area and attended Lefor Public School. She married Steve Anton on February 5, 1940 in Lefor. They had seven children: Delores, Ken, Alan, Kathy, Rollin, Alvina and Mark were born. After marriage the two with their family actively farmed in the Lefor, Gladstone area until Steve’s death in 1964. After Steve’s death, Bertha moved the family to Richardton, ND. In 1974, she moved to Dickinson. In 1977 she moved to Bismarck, ND. She later traveled to Phoenix, AZ for the winter months. In 2005, Bertha moved back to Bismarck, where she had resided since.


Bertha was a renowned baker and cook. She was famous for her pie crusts and chicken noodle soup for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed polka music and dancing along with reading and doing puzzles. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


Bertha is survived by her children: Delores (Murray) Pearce, Gilbert, AZ, Kenneth (Virginia) Anton, Full time traveler, Alan (Susan) Anton, Lead, SD, Kathy (Duane) Schwab, Dickinson, ND, Alvina (Randy) Rebel, Mandan, ND, Rollin Anton (Tom Davis), Mora, MN and Mark Anton, Minneapolis, MN; brothers, Jacob Banyai, Salt Lake City, UT and Philip Banyai, Dickinson, ND; grandchildren: Steve Pearce, Karen Batts, Michelle Anton, Jason Anton, Brent Anton, Shawn Anton, Kris Schwab, Dawn Kadrmas, Sarah Anton, Nathan Strei, Anthony Rebel and Levi Rebel; great-grandchildren: Niklas Pearce, Angelica Anton, Ian Anton, Trevor Kraft, Tyson Schwab, Jace Schwab, Cole Kadrmas and Bryce Kadrmas. Bertha is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Steve, and numerous brothers and sisters.
