A funeral Mass for Bertha Bahley, 92, of Dickinson, formerly of South Heart, will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2017 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Msgr. Patrick Schumacher celebrating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
Visitation for Bertha will be 12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Rosary and Vigil service being held at 6:00 p.m.
Bertha passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017 at St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson.
Bertha was born April 23, 1925 in Dickinson, the daughter of Louis V. and Mary (Jablonsky) Sadowsky. Growing up, she attended New Hradec Boarding school, and graduated from Model High School. Bertha married Robert Bahley on January 14, 1948 in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Hradec. They were blessed with five children, Arlys, Judith, Roberta, Carol and Randall. Bertha and Robert raised their family south of South Heart on the family farm. She was a devoted mother and wife, retiring from farming in 1984 and later moving to Dickinson in 1988. Bertha enjoyed being a farm wife and raising chickens. She loved gardening, baking, crocheting, reading and watching television. She especially loved visiting with her family. Bertha will be forever loved and dearly missed.
Bertha is survived by her son, Randy Bahley of South Heart; daughters, Judith (Bob) Luebke of Bismarck, Roberta (Ken) Volesky of Dickinson, Carol (Danny) Luebke of Barney; 6 grandchildren, Christopher (Jennifer) Luebke, Jonathan (Amber) Luebke, Lindsay (Patrick) Berger, Lane (Mindy) Volesky, Adam (Alham) Luebke and Austin Luebke; 6 great-grandchildren, Sophia, Gavin and Greyson Berger, Abigail and Jack Luebke, Antonio Contreras and baby girl Volesky expected this July; sister, Georgia Huschka; sisters-in-law, Lillian Sadowsky, Irene Sadowsky, Dorothy Bahley, and Katie Bahley; one brother-in-law, Tom Huschka; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert (1990); daughter, Arlys (2005); brothers, William, Alfred, and Raymond.
