Funeral Mass for Bertha Doll, 99, of Glen Ullin will be 11:00 a.m. CT., Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin with Father Jeff Zwack officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. CT., Saturday June 1, 2019 with a Rosary and Vigil Service at 10:00 a.m. CT.
Bertha passed away Monday, May 27, 2019 at Sunset Drive Prospera Community in Mandan.
Bertha was born June 28, 1919 in Odense, ND to Adam and Mariana (Barth) Schaff. She married Nick Doll on October 28, 1941 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Odense. Together they worked on the family farm for 17 years before moving into town in 1958. Bertha worked for various cafes in Glen Ullin including Renners, Ron Rhoden and Siblas. In September 1973, they opened Doll House Café and ran it until 1985. In retirement, Bertha would do sewing and patch work for many people in the community and in return they would stay and visit with her for hours. Bertha moved to her final home at Sunset Drive Prospera Community in July 2013. Bertha was famous for her delicious creamed chicken and pies. She enjoyed spending time gardening and her faith and church were very important to her.
Bertha is survived by her children; Albert Doll of FL, Alberta Naff of WA, Jim (Ruth) Doll of Glen Ullin, Jack Doll of Glen Ullin, JoAnn (Bob) Opp of Glen Ullin, Bonnie Doll of Mandan, Don (Chelle) Doll of Bismarck; 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Mariana; husband, Nick; brothers, Paul and August; sisters, Pauline, Barbara, Caroline and Magdeline; two infant daughters; one infant son; two-grandsons; two daughter-in-law and two sons-in-law.
