Funeral services for Bertha Kleemann, 92, of Dickinson will be 2:00 p. m. , Friday, September 9, 2011 at St. John?s Lutheran Church in Killdeer, ND with Pastor Joel Sauerwein officiating. Burial will take place in Oakdale Cemetery. Visitation for Bertha will be from 3:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. , Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Killdeer, ND. Bertha passed away, Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center in Dickinson. Bertha Torgerson was born July 28, 1919, in Benson County, North Dakota, the daughter of Ole and Anna (Esperum) Torgerson. She grew up and attended Benson Corner School. After school, Bertha began helping as a nanny, first to her siblings and then to other relatives throughout the area. After corresponding with a Pen Pal from Killdeer for a number of years, Bertha traveled out West to visit. During this time she met Bill Kleemann. A few years later she was united in marriage to George W. ?Bill? Kleemann on August, 25, 1948. The couple made their home on the Kleemann farm and it was there that they raised their family. Bertha made her home there until she retired to Dickinson in 2005 due to health reasons. She loved feeding and over feeding family and friends. Bertha also enjoyed gardening, baking, canning and quilting. She was a very giving person, always with a smile on her face and a heart of gold. Bertha is survived by one daughter Vicki Vigil of Dickinson and grandchildren Andrew, Larena, Shawna, Myria, Deandra and Rianna; one son Harley (Cindy) Kleemann of Bismarck and grandchildren Carolyn, Christina, Stephanie and Steven; one brother George Torgerson of Benson Corner, ND; three sisters, Mable Blake of Port Townsend, WA, Helen Blumer of Alice, ND, and Ruth (Dale) Peterson of Litchville, ND; 18 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill; three brothers and one sister.
