Funeral Mass for Bessie Kudrna, 94, of Dickinson will be 1:00 p. m. Saturday, June 30, 2007 at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Dickinson with Fr. Austin Vetter celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick?s Cemetery in Dickinson. Visitation will be 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. Friday, June 29, 2007 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Rosary and Vigil Service taking place at 7:00 p. m. Bessie passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at St. Joseph?s Hospital in Dickinson. Bessie Kudrna was born December 17, 1912 to Steve and Agnes (Pavlish) Urbanec on the family farm in Dunn County. She grew up on the farm and attended a local country school. It was during this time that she helped a neighboring family raise their children. On October 29, 1930 she married Henry Kudrna at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Hradec, ND. This union was blessed with three children. The couple made their living farming until 1958 when they moved to Dickinson. Her Catholic faith was very important to her and the means by which she lived her life. Bessie took great pride in her home and vast flower gardens. She was well known for the flowers she grew. Bessie was also a great baker and everyone knew her for her famous Cinnamon Twists. When she wasn?t busy in the kitchen or garden she enjoyed listening to music. Bessie truly loved her children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren. She was very proud of her red, 1976 Chevette. This was her very first car since she only got her license when she was 68 years old. She was a member of the Christian Mothers, Rosary Society, Holy Hour Group and People of Praise Group. Bessie is survived by her son, Edwin (Blanche) Kudrna, Dickinson, ND; her daughter, Diane (Darrel) Cuskelly, Dickinson, ND, 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry in 1980; both parents; a daughter, Marlene Klug; a son-in-law, Adam Klug; a grandson, Doug Cuskelly and a grandson-in-law, Mark Kenneweg; three sisters, Agnes Kostelecky, Lucy Brydl and Lillian Ficek; a foster sister, Dagmar UrbanecFamily prefers that memorials be made to St. Patrick?s Catholic Church of Dickinson or to the Dickinson Catholic Schools.
