Bessie Rodenbaugh

Bessie Rhodenbaugh, 89, of Glen Ullin, died Thursday, October 2, 2008 at the Marian Manor Healthcare Center in Glen Ullin. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at 10:00 a. m. Central Time at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin. Visitation will be on Monday after 4:00 p. m. at the church with Vigil services at 7:00 p. m. Burial will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Glen Ullin. Bessie was born December 31, 1918 in Glen Ullin, the daughter of Sidney and Mary (Dietsche) Bullamore. She was raised on the farm near Glen Ullin and attended country school. Her father died in 1929 and her mother in 1934, Bessie moved in with the Tjaden family. While attending school Bessie worked part time at the Engen Caf? and Northwestern Bell Telephone. She married Carl Schirado in Lansing, Michigan on November 11, 1937. When Carl was drafted into the Army in 1944, Bessie returned to Glen Ullin and worked at the Hardware Store. In 1952 she began working at the Bank of Glen Ullin and worked there over 44 years. In 1968, sometime following the untimely death of Carl, Bessie married Keith Rhodenbaugh. Bessie was member of the Glen Ullin Homemakers, and the American Legion Auxiliary for 63 years. Grateful for having shared in her life is her daughter Diane Schirado, Glen Ullin and numerous nieces and nephews. Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Ethel, her husbands, Carl and Keith.
