Funeral Services for Betty Lou Pollestad, 79, Killdeer, formerly of Halliday, will be at 2 p. m. , Monday, May 21, 2007, at Our Savior?s Lutheran Church, Halliday, with Rev. Aanen Gjovik officiating. Interment will be in Halliday Cemetery, Halliday. Visitation will be 2 p. m. to 6 p. m. , Sunday, May 20, 2007, at Stevenson Funeral Home, Killdeer, and will continue Monday from 8 a. m. to 11 a. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home, Killdeer, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Betty Lou passed away Monday, May 14, 2007 at Hill Top Home of Comfort, Killdeer. Betty Lou Sime was born December 25, 1927 in Rolette County, North Dakota to Leslie and Clara (Medrud) Sime. She was baptized on August 16, 1931, at Vik Lutheran Church by Rev. O. L. Leverson. Betty Lou graduated from Rolette High School. She attended summer school at Minot College, and taught two years in a County Consolidated School. She then received a call to go to Columbus, ND and taught three years there besides getting confirmed and teaching Sunday School. Betty Lou also was involved in the Girl Scouts and was a Camp Counselor at Lake Metigoshe for two years. She married Alvin Pollestad on June 13, 1951 at First Lutheran Church in Columbus by Rev. N. C. Engelstad. Betty Lou has been a member of Our Savior?s Lutheran Church in Halliday ever since. She has served as President of the ALCW, Altar Guild, and Church Council, and an advisor of the Christian Youth League for ten years. Betty Lou enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, all sports, baking, teenagers, and visiting residents in the local nursing homes. She is survived by: two brothers, Larry (Connie) Sime, Dunseith, ND, Daniel Sime, Laughlin, NV; two sisters, Nora (Marvin) Olson, Bottineau, ND, and Peggy (Dennis) Espe, Dunseith, ND; one sister-in-law, Florence Sime, and many nieces, nephews, godchildren, great grandnieces and grandnephews and special friend, Lois Wetsch. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Alvin; parents; three brothers, Leland Sime (killed in the Koren Conflict), Corbin Sime, and Lowell Sime (who died as a baby); two nieces, Crystal Schmidt, and Debora Sime. Memorials may be made to Hill Top Heritage, Killdeer or Our Savior?s Lutheran Church, Halliday.
