A Funeral Mass for Betty Schocker, 88, of Dickinson, will be 10:30 a. m. , Friday, October 16, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Keith Streifel celebrating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visitation for Betty will be from 5:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. , Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Rosary and Vigil service being held at 6:30 p. m. Betty passed away Friday, October 9, 2015 at St. Benedict’s Health Center in Dickinson. Betty was born April 27, 1927 in Dickinson, the daughter of Raphael and Margaret (Klein) Kessel. Growing up she attended school through the eighth grade at St. Joseph’s. After the sudden death of her father, she helped take care of her siblings. Betty married James Schocker and they were blessed with three children, Linda, Mary and Rodney. She lived in Oregon for many years before she returned to Dickinson with her son, Rodney in 1997. Betty was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for many years. Following a severe burn accident in May 2014, Betty moved into St. Benedict’s Health Center. She enjoyed tracking her family history and she was an avid walker. Betty was survived by her daughters, Linda (Lynn) Nash of Myrtle Creek, OR, Mary (Robert) Arbuckle of Pittsburgh, PA; two brothers, Richard Kessel of Dickinson, and Robert (Carole) Kessel of Bismarck; seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Rodney; brothers and sisters, Nickie, Jackie, Rose, Tony, Raymond, Edwin, Veronica and Margie. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer Association.
