Betty Whitaker

Betty Ann WhitakerA graveside service for Betty Ann Whitaker, 88, of Wibaux, MT will be 3:00 p. m. , Monday, August 18, 2014 at Page Cemetery in Page, North Dakota. Betty passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Fallon Medical Complex in Baker, MT. Betty Ann McDonald was born January 25, 1926 in Page, ND, the daughter of William and Mabel (Fulks) McDonald. She grew up and attended school in Page. On October 5, 1941, Betty and Carl Sather were united in marriage. To this union, five children were born: Carl, Connie, Billy, Patti and Michael. Together, the family moved to Billings where they raised their family. While in Billings, Betty worked as a waitress in various restaurants. In 1961, Betty and Carl divorced. She later married Lloyd Whitaker in Glasgow, MT. Due to Lloyd’s Air force career, they moved to various states and countries. Following Lloyd’s retirement, they moved to Brigham City, UT where they made their home. In 2009, Betty moved to Golva to be closer to her daughter, Patti Joe. Betty enjoyed being around animals; especially her dogs. She especially loved her children and grandchildren. She was ‘full of Love’ as some have put it. She opened her doors to anyone in need, and when they left, she often sent them with a home-made sandwich. Many knew her Kindness, Generosity, Love, and an un-bigoted acceptance to all. She kept everything (much to the dismay of trying to walk through her house) but, along with that, she kept so many memories that we had long forgotten. A trip to visit often resulted in finding a drawing, a long lost toy, or trinket of sorts that took you back to childhood. She could be stubborn beyond belief and had many eccentricities that could make you laugh as much as they could frustrate you. Her sense of being Headstrong was passed to her children and grandchildren. She was proud of her family and spoke of them often, always in the brightest of light. She is now in a better place, free of any pain, free of any suffering. She can be at peace knowing that her daughter cared for her and looked after her with Angelic poise and grace. The Dead remain with us. They exist within the moments when we remember them. We choose how to remember them, and, what they meant in Life, not in Death. Betty is survived by her sons, Carl Sather of Billings, MT, Billy Sather of Connell, WA, and Michael Sather of Billings, MT; daughter, Patti Joe Lorbiecke of Wibaux, MT; sister, Pauline (Howard) Brooks of Bowman, ND, and Sharon Smith of Billings, MT; five grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Connie Rhoades; and sister, Bernadine Lind.
