Bill Murphy, 74, Dickinson, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p. m. Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson, with the Reverend David Morman celebrating. Interment will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be Friday at Price-Murphy Funeral Home from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p. m. Bill Murphy was born May 21, 1929, to William and Edna (Johnson) Murphy in Simla, Colorado. He enlisted in the U. S. Army on January 16, 1951, and was honorably discharged on October 15, 1952. On June 29, 1951, he married Eleanor Schwindt at Camp Rucker, Ala. When he was 14, he began working for Bill Rabe at the HT Ranch, and later for the Dickinson Bottling Company. Bill worked for Coca-Cola Bottling for 56 years, retiring in 1999. He enjoyed reading, walking, gardening and spending time in the Badlands, where he was involved in the Badlands Conservation Alliance. Bill is survived by: his wife, Eleanor, Dickinson; four children, Bill ?Bumps? (Joan) Murphy, Dickinson, Carol (Bill) Petersen, Dickinson, Tom (Leslie) Murphy, Shakopee, Minn, Ryan (Renae Harmsen) Murphy, Dallas TX; six grandchildren, Sarah (Brett) Chauncey, Kelly, Scott and Andy Murphy, Kristine and Amy Dassinger; and a step-grandson, Matthew Thompson; two sisters, Norma (Jake) Eskew, Shady Cove, Ore. , Betty Fettig, San Jose, Calif. , and one brother, Robert (Dagmar) Murphy, Dickinson. He was preceded in death by: his parents and three sisters, Beulah Kessel, Violet Staiger and Leona Murphy.
