Bill Wear

Funeral services for William R. Wear, 67, of Camp Crook South Dakota, will be 11:00 a. m. , Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at Stevenson Funeral Home, Ekalaka, MT with Tom Steig officiating. Inurnment will follow in Beaver Lodge Cemetery. Bill passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Dahl Memorial Health Care in Ekalaka, Montana. William was born February 22, 1947 in Miles City, Montana, the son of Robert E. and Velma (Heckathorn) Wear. He grew up and attended school in Ekalaka, graduating from Carter County High School in 1965 as class valedictorian. After graduation, Bill spent two years in Seattle, Washington before returning to southeastern Montana. On June 5, 1971, Bill was united in marriage to Kathi Kemmer in Moorhead, Minnesota. To this union four children were born: Tzeidel, Rachel, Aaron and Sarah. The family made their home in Baker for several years until returning to Ekalaka to assist with the operation of the family business, Wear Hardware. Bill owned and operated the business until the early 1990’s and continued to make Ekalaka his home. On March 9, 2004, Bill married Diane Dingfelder in Belle Fourche, South Dakota. They made their home on Tie Creek Road in Carter County. He worked at various jobs in Carter and Harding Counties. Bill was an active member in the Ekalaka Chamber of Commerce, Ekalaka EMT’s, Ekalaka Volunteer Fire Department, and Community Action Team of Harding County, South Dakota. Bill is survived by his wife, Diane of Camp Crook, SD; one sister, Winnie Wear of Hamilton, MT; daughters, Tzeidel (John) Black of Custer, SD, Rachel Wear of Claremont, CA, and Sarah Wear of San Diego, CA; son, Aaron Wear of Aurora, CO; step-sons, JR (Laura) Douglas of Sturgis, SD, Josh (Halona) Douglas of Summerset, SD, and James (April) Douglas of Billings, MT; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents; and numerous aunts and uncles. The family would like to thank Dale Diede and the staff of Dahl Memorial Health Care for all the wonderful care Bill received while staying there this summer.
