Billy Lars Vanvig, age 58, of Ozark, Missouri, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Graveside services will be 1 p. m. , Friday, October 29, 2004 at Medora Cemetery, Medora. Billy Vanvig was born April 19, 1946, in Beach, N. D. He grew up on a ranch in the Badlands of North Dakota, and graduated from high school in Belfield, N. D. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Bill later became a successful rancher. In the early 1980s, he moved his family to Ozark where he worked as a builder-developer, developing Quail Run Country Estates. He loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He will be remembered for his quick smile and sense of humor. He is survived by: his wife, Suzanne; two children, Julie Vanvig Burnell and her husband, Michael, of Springfield, and Douglas Vanvig, Ozark; two granddaughters, Courtney and Sara; two stepgrandsons, Dylan and Jared; his father, Milford Vanvig, Medora, N. D. ; a brother, Roger Vanvig, Medora, N. D. ; other relatives; and many friends. He was preceded in death by: his mother, Shirley Vanvig; and a granddaughter, Austin Vanvig.
