Funeral Services for Bonnie J. Dirkach, 55, of Dunn Center will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the Stevenson Funeral Home in Killdeer, ND. Burial will be in the Dunn Center Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, Dec 11, 2009 with the family receiving friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Stevenson Funeral Home, Killdeer, ND. Bonnie passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Rochester Methodist Hospital in Minnesota. Bonnie Jean Giltner was born May 31, 1954 the daughter of Jim and Rosie Giltner. She was born in Heidelberg Germany. She lived in Germany from 1954-1956. In 1956 she moved to Colorado. In 1960 she moved to California and went to school. In 1969 she moved to Idaho and went to school. From 1970-1972 she moved to Montana where she finished school. She was married to Daniel Richard Hager Sr. from August 1971-1990. They have three sons, Daniel and Christopher Hager and Dan Melanson. In 1991 she attended Miles City Community College. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science at Dickinson State University in 1993. In 1993 she married Darcy Dirkach in Deadwood, South Dakota. She worked at the 600 Caf?, Soil Conservation Service and Air Port Inn in Miles City, Montana. She worked at Soil Conservation Service, Dickinson State University, and also helped tutor kids at the University in Dickinson, North Dakota. Bonnie was a mother to many students at the University and took them under her wing and helped them financially, tutored and counseling. Bonnie was also a great friend to many. She would go the extra step to help others in need. Bonnie was happiest when she was able to help people out. In her free time she loved to play Canasta with her Canasta friends online. Also she liked to chat and play games with her family and friends on Face book. Bonnie loved swathing hay, hauling bales and grain. She loved taking are of animals especially little calves and bringing them into the house to warm up. She also loved taking care of cats especially her house cats, Vampie and Gladys (Baby) and the crazy dog, Bingo. She loved all parts of the farm life, but not the cold weather. She enjoyed the rolling hills of the prairie land from sun up to sun down and the night sky above. She is survived by her husband, Darcy Dirkach, Dunn Center, ND; sons, Daniel Louis (Summer) Hager Jr. , Rapid City, SD; Christopher (Joni) Hager, Bemidji, MN; Dan (Derae) Melanson, Hullet, WY; step sons, Bernie Kellison, Dunn Center, ND; Shawn Dirkach, NC; step daughters, Molly Dirkach, Fargo, ND and Travonty Dirkach, Poplar Bluff, MO; sisters, Kathy (Larry) Pluhar, Benton, MO; Suzie Richie, Lancaster, CA; brother, Jimmie Giltner, Nampa, ID; three grandchildren from Dan (Derae) Melanson; two from Daniel (Summer) Hager; one from Bernie Kellison; two from Travonty Dirkach and two from Shawn Dirkach. Bonnie is preceded in death by her mom and dad.
