Brenda Altenburg

Funeral service for Brenda Altenburg, 103, of New Salem, ND formerly of Belfield, ND will be at 11 a. m. , Friday, September 18, 2009 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, ND with Reverend Kathleen M. Chestnut officiating. Burial will be at the Belfield Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a. m. to 9 p. m. , Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, ND. Brenda passed away Friday, September 11, 2009 at the Elm Crest Manor in New Salem, ND. Brenda Lenore Telford was born July 6, 1906 in Dickinson, ND to Ephraim and Martha (Selman) Telford. She grew up and attended school in the Gorham area and graduated from Belfield High School. She worked various jobs, and was a very talented seamstress. On November 29, 1936 Brenda and Herbert Altenburg were married in Belfield, ND. They continued to make Belfield their home where they raised their two children, Sharon and Jeffrey. They retired and moved to Bismarck, ND. After Herbert?s death in 1998 and due to Brenda?s failing health, she made her home at the Elm Crest Manor in New Salem, ND. Brenda was known for her delicious cooking and enjoyed entertaining everyone in her home. She also enjoyed card games with friends. Brenda was a past member of the Belfield Presbyterian Church. Brenda is survived by her children, Jeff Altenburg, Dickinson, ND and Cheri Grinnsteinner, Puako Beach, HI; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert; 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
