Funeral services for Brent Alenenko, 38, of Wausau, WI, formerly of Killdeer, ND will be Wednesday, January 23, 11 am at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Killdeer with Brent?s Uncle Pastor Jody Dickhaut, and Pastor Bob Forbes officiating. Interment will be at the Grassy Butte Seventh-day Adventist Church Cemetery. Brent passed away Sunday, January 13, 2008 at his home in Wausau, WI. Brent was born on August 27, 1969 at St.Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson. He was the first born child of Llewellyn & Sharon Dickhaut Alexenko of Killdeer. He attended the Killdeer Public School through grade 12. Music was Brent’s life. He began piano lessons from Sonja Bergstedt at the age of 10 and by the 7th grade he became the elementary choir accompanist which he did through the 12th grade. He also played a saxophone in the school band and sang in the choir. At age 14, he told his parents that his goal in life was to earn a Doctorate degree in Music which he was within weeks of completing. He graduated from Dickinson State University with a BA in music where he was active in all phases of the music department, including Hilltop Holiday, and the summer theater programs. He then went on to NDSU at Fargo where he earned a Masters Degree in Music Education, and began work on his Doctorate in Choral Conducting. While there he developed and taught an online class titled “the History of Music” which had as many as 300 students. At the time of his death he was the Choral Conductor and Professor of Music at the University of Wisconsin, Marathon County, Wausau,WI. Brent touched many lives in his brief life of 38 years with a compassionate, caring personality and he truly will be missed by many people. Brent is survived by his parents Llewellyn and Sharon of Killdeer, one brother Brad (Jacquelyn) Alexenko of Sartell Minnesota, one sister Tiffany (Kent) Thomas of Killdeer, and a special friend, Jenna Barenthsen of Fargo. 4 Nephews, Luka and Ryder Alexenko, Alex and Zachery Thomas. 4 uncles, Lyle (Fern) Dickhaut, Mobridge SD; Evan Dickhaut, Denver Co; Jody (Sonja) Dickhaut , Winterset Iowa; Dallas Alexenko, Hettinger ND. One aunt, Sharon (Jerry)Miller,Streeter, ND; Grandmother Lorraine Teti of Killdeer and nine cousins. He was preceded in death by his Grand parents Matt & Emma Alexenko, and Reinhold Dickhaut.
