Funeral Mass for Bruce Decker, 62, of Dickinson, ND will be 10 a. m. . , Saturday, January 17, 2009 at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church Dickinson, ND with Father Todd Kreitinger celebrating. Burial will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, New Hradec, ND. Visitation will be 9 a. m. to 5 p. m. , Friday, January 16, 2009 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson and will continue from 6 p. m. – 9. p. m, Friday, January 16, 2009 at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church with a rosary service at 7 p. m. at the church. Bruce passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at St. Alexius Medical CenterBismarck, NDBruce Anthony Decker was born on December 13, 1946 in Dickinson, ND to Peter (Pete) and Euphemia (Famie) Decker. Bruce grew up in Belfield and attended elementary and high school there. He enlisted in the U. S. Marines in 1966, serving in Vietnam. Upon his return home he worked for Wyoming Coal Mines, during this time he met and married Georgenna (Gina) Dickson in 1970. They moved to Dickinson and raised their four their children, Dionne, Heather, Kris and Jason. Bruce later remarried to Bernadette Dvorak, who died of natural causes in November of 1999. Bruce was an avid outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, camping, hiking, football, and riding his motorcycle. Bruce also spent a lot of time gardening in his backyard, something he took great pride in. Thirty years ago, Bruce & Gina began taking their kids on camping trips to the Big Horn Mountains of WY. Bruce loved the Big Horns, and traveled to the mountains almost ever year to fish and hike, sometimes even having a vacation there alone. Bruce was very charismatic, and was well known for his great jokes and storytelling – he could keep people entertained for hours. Bruce had a strong faith in God, and was a devoted member of St Patrick?s parish. He had a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and his favorite books were on angels. Bruce has worked for the US Postal Service since the early 1980s. He always found great joy in his job and could often be heard talking about the wonderful people on his mail route. While raising his family, Bruce also worked for many years as a beekeeper in ND and TX. Bruce was a member of the Belfield American Legion. Bruce Anthony Decker passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, ND. Bruce is survived by his 4 children; Dionne Gada, her husband Bill, and their daughter Sarah; Heather Gilrane and her husband Brendan in NJ; Kristopher Decker and his wife Monica in SC; Jason Decker & wife Annika in CA. Bruce is also survived by his father, Pete Decker of Dickinson, his sisters; Judy Loveland of Jamestown, ND; Linda Decker of Dickinson; Ginger (John) Swinney of KS, Sheree (Lawrence) Manolovitz of Dickinson; as well as his two brothers; Doug Decker from Haddock, WA & his wife Roxanne & and Kurt Decker of Bismarck, ND; sisters-in-law, Marty Dvorak and Geri Dvorak both of Bismarck, ND Bismarck, ND; brothers-in-law, Marvin (Linda) Dvorak and Virgil Dvorak both of Dickinson, ND; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother; wife, Bernadette; sister, Collette; fathers-in-law, George Dickson and Paul Dvorak; mother-in-law, Dixie Dickson; brother-in-law; Ken Loveland.
