Cally was born April 25, 1918 on her grandfather Hamilton’s place south of Ekalaka on Timber Creek. Cally was the oldest of ten children born to Lois Vivian and Alfred James Cline. She attended school in Ekalaka. On July 28, 1934, Cally was united in marriage to Les Stewart. To this union two children, Alfred Leslie and Lennard Marion, were born. Cally returned to high school and graduated with the Class of 1940.

On August 7, 1941, Cally and Erwin Herbert Stieg were united in marriage under the “Big Tree”, which was a town square for the town of Ekalaka. Two children were born to this union, Ginger Kay and Trixie Gaylene. Cally and Erwin resided on a ranch north of Ekalaka where they raised cattle and farmed. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1991. Cally worked at the courthouse in Ekalaka for many years, first in the County Welfare Department and later as Deputy Clerk in the Clerk and Recorders office.

Through the years, Cally raised large gardens, loved dancing, painting, quilting, riding horses and watching the rodeo finals in Las Vegas. She was a Sunday school teacher and taught many 4-H members how to sew. She loved to travel and made many trips to Arizona to enjoy the winters. Cally was an active member of the Eastern Star in Ekalaka and made Grand Worthy Matron. She had a great love for life, which she faced with a great sense of humor. She enjoyed family reunions, her children and grandchildren.
