Funeral service for Cally Stieg, 95, of Ekalaka MT, will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 25, 2013 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Ekalaka, MT with grandson, Corbit Harrington officiating. Burial will follow in Beaver Lodge Cemetery.
Family receiving Friends will take place Sunday, November 24th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in Ekalaka.
Cally passed away November 19, 2013 at the Dahl Memorial Nursing Home in Ekalaka, MT.
Cally was born April 25, 1918 on her grandfather Hamilton’s place south of Ekalaka on Timber Creek. Cally was the oldest of ten children born to Lois Vivian and Alfred James Cline. She attended school in Ekalaka. On July 28, 1934, Cally was united in marriage to Les Stewart. To this union two children, Alfred Leslie and Lennard Marion, were born. Cally returned to high school and graduated with the Class of 1940.
On August 7, 1941, Cally and Erwin Herbert Stieg were united in marriage under the “Big Tree”, which was a town square for the town of Ekalaka. Two children were born to this union, Ginger Kay and Trixie Gaylene. Cally and Erwin resided on a ranch north of Ekalaka where they raised cattle and farmed. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1991. Cally worked at the courthouse in Ekalaka for many years, first in the County Welfare Department and later as Deputy Clerk in the Clerk and Recorders office.
Through the years, Cally raised large gardens, loved dancing, painting, quilting, riding horses and watching the rodeo finals in Las Vegas. She was a Sunday school teacher and taught many 4-H members how to sew. She loved to travel and made many trips to Arizona to enjoy the winters. Cally was an active member of the Eastern Star in Ekalaka and made Grand Worthy Matron. She had a great love for life, which she faced with a great sense of humor. She enjoyed family reunions, her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her two daughters, Ginger (Homer) Harrington, of Ekalaka, MT and Trixie (Darryld) Kautzmann of Lake Havasu City, AZ; one sister, Mary (Leo) Sterns of Ekalaka, MT; two brothers, Bill (Lois) Cline of Richland, WA and Elmer Cline of Springfield, OR; six grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Irene Cline.
Family members preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Erwin; two sons, Alfred and Lennard; four sisters, Daisy (Al) Patten of Yelm, WA, Pearl (Roy) McCord of Grants Pass, OR, Florene (Karl) Pinnow of Billings, MT, Girelda “Toots” (Everett “Rusty”) Phelps of Troy, MT; two brothers, Leslie Cline and Roy (Marjorie) Cline of Ekalaka, MT; daughter-in-law, Avis Stieg; and sister-in-law, Nellie Cline.
