Funeral service for Carol Ann Bechtold, 71, of Baker, MT will be 11:00 a. m. Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Baker with Pastor Levi Durfey officiating. Burial will follow at Bonnievale Cemetery in Baker. Visitation will be from 8:00 a. m. to 8 p. m. Monday, September 25, 2006 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker. Carol passed away Thursday, September 21, 2006 at Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City, MT. Carol Ann Bechtold was born December 20, 1934 in Baker, MT to Wilbur and Gertrude (North) Irvine. She grew up on the family farm and attended school in Baker. Carol graduated from Baker High School in 1952 and it was during this time that she began dating Bennie Bechtold. The two were married on April 3, 1954 at the First Baptist Church in Baker. Bennie and Carol eventually made their home in Baker where they raised their family of five children. Carol worked at several different jobs throughout the years but especially enjoyed her time as clerk for the Baker Public Schools. She retired from her position in 1996 and spent the better part of the next decade traveling with Bennie. The two did extensive traveling with many of their family and close friends. Carol loved her family and she especially enjoyed following her children and grandchildren?s school activities. She was a tremendous cook and was also very fond of reading. In later years she became a fan of the PBR. She was a very special lady that will be deeply missed by all those who knew her. Carol was a member of: the First Baptist Church and mission circle, an RSVP volunteer, a Girl and Boy Scout leader for over 20 years and member of the National Association of School Business officials. She is survived by her husband Bennie; a son, Barry Bechtold of Rochester, NY; three daughters, LuRae (Chip) Fosland of Scobey, MT; Tami Peterson of Circle, MT; Shyla (Eric) Barnosky of Miles City, MT; two brothers, Bob (Delores) Irvine of Rapid City, SD; Lloyd (Leona) Irvine of Billings, MT; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded by both of her parents and her daughter, Robin. Carol?s family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
