Mass of Christian Burial for Carson Murdy, 96, of San Diego, CA, formerly of Dickinson, is Friday, January 31, 2003, 10:00 a. m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Austin Vetter, celebrating. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. with a rosary 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel. Carson passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2003, at Villa Monte Vista Nursing home San Diego, CA where he has resided since September 2002. Carson, a son of Andrew C. and Elizabeth (Nold) Murdy was born July 15, 1906 in Springs, SD. He grew up and attended country schools in the Tolstoy and Hoven area later attended normal school in Aberdeen, SD. Carson married Oliva Morgen on April 17, 1928, in Dickinson, ND. Carson worked at Sax Motor Company for 55 years and for 33 years as Service Manager. Carson’s dedication to public service was demonstrated by the active role he maintained for various organizations. In his earlier years he was a Cub Scout Leader and Jaycees member, and also joining the Elks Lodge 1137 of Dickinson and Knights of Columbus Council 1515. Served as Grand Knight of Council in 1954-55 and again in 1959-60. Carson also served as District Deputy and on the State level as Warden and Secretary spending 13 years at the state level. He was a 4th Degree member and served as faithful navigator for the 4th Degree. Carson was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and served as usher for 40 years. He is survived by his sons, Richard (Frances ) Murdy of San Diego, CA, Donald (Patricia) Murdy of Morton, WA; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Louise in Denver, Colo. . He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Oliva, daughter Shirley, four brothers, Lloyd, Howard, Lee & Walter and one sister, Agnes McMannus.
