Caryl passed away Monday, January 17, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Health Center in Dickinson.
Caryl Louise Brosa was born January 17, 1939 in Sundance, WY, the daughter of Jack and Beryl (Wallace) Brosa. She grew up and attended school in Moorcroft, WY where she graduated from high school in 1957 as valedictorian of her class. While working in her mother’s restaurant, she met her future husband, William “Bill” Haverluk. They were united in marriage on October 24, 1957. To this union three children were born; Terrance, Valerie and Lisa. Together they lived in Moorcroft and Gillette, WY, Greeley, Co and Belfield. Upon her marriage to Bill, she was baptized and confirmed a member of the Catholic Church. She cared deeply about her faith and was active in the Ukrainian Catholic Parishes of St. John the Baptist and St. Demetrius, helping out whenever she was needed. Caryl was the apple of Bill’s eye and he will miss her greatly. Caryl thoroughly enjoyed her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted mother with a great sense of humor – always there for her children, providing words of love and encouragement. Caryl is the best person her children have ever known and will live forever in our thoughts and memories. Caryl’s passion was reading, playing games and completing crossword puzzles, not cooking. She read 10 books from the library every month. Caryl would often be found enjoying these past-times well past midnight. Completing the crossword puzzle from the New York Times was a weekly occurrence and would purchase a new puzzle book each time she went to the grocery store. She was a past member of Evens V. F. W. Auxiliary and Eagles Auxiliary.
Caryl is survived by her husband, Bill of Belfield; son, Terrence (Julie) Haverluk of Colorado Springs, CO; two daughters, Valerie (Will) Knorr of West Minster, CO and Lisa (Dennis) Haverluk-Edmonds of Casper, WY; one brother, Gerald Brosa of Ekalaka, MT; and three grandchildren, Elena, Clare & Lauren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Beryl Brosa and two sisters, Lois Stenson and Wilma “Punky” Steward.
