Funeral Mass for Casper Vetter, 80, of Dickinson will be 10:00 a.m. MST, Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Father Josh Ehli celebrating. Military Rites will be provided by the Dickinson Honor Guard. Burial will be 10:00 a.m. CST, Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.


Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 14, 2012, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Vigil being said at 7:00 p.m. at the Stevenson Funeral Home. Deacon Jerry Volk will be presiding. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the Stevenson Funeral Home.


Casper passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at the St. Joseph’s Hospital and Health Center in Dickinson.


Casper H. Vetter was born March 23, 1931 in Selz, North Dakota, the son of Hans and Lena (Keller) Vetter. He grew up and attended school in the Selz area. As a young man, he assisted his family on the farm. On September 22, 1952, Casper and Laura Martin were united in marriage at Orrin, ND. To this union two children were born, Lorraine and Leon. In 1954, Casper was inducted into the United States Army and served in Korea. He returned to North Dakota in 1956 and moved his family in Minot where Casper worked for Bacon Signs. In 1976, the couple moved to Bismarck and Casper began working for St. Mary’s High School and later for the Law Enforcement Training Center until 1993, when he retired. In 2004, they moved to Dickinson; where they have made their home since. Casper enjoyed playing pinochle, dancing, fishing, harvesting with Alvin and Doug, and having lots of company. He was a life long member of the Eagles Club and Knights of Columbus Club.


Casper is survived by his wife, Laura; his son, Leon (Cindy) Vetter of Dickinson; daughter, Lorraine (Albert) Richmond of Billings, MT; six grandchildren, Allen (Robin) Richmond of Japan, Joshua (Amy) Richmond of North Carolina, Craig (Amber) Richmond of San Diego, CA, Weston Vetter of Dickinson, Shanna Richmond of Billings, MT, and Leighton Vetter of Grand Forks; three brothers, Victor (Shirlein) Vetter of Bismarck, Joseph (Darlene) Vetter of Minot, and Ray (Connie) Vetter of Great Falls, MT; and three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Zoie and Lily.


He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Richard, William (Bill), and Leonard Vetter; three sisters, Lena Selensky, Mary Grossman and Barbara Schneider.
