Fort Worth

On October 19, 2024 my loving wife, soulmate and best friend Catherine Amy Ray began her trip toHeaven in Fort Worth, TX. Me (her husband) and sisters Cindy and Lucy were at her side.

Amy was born March 1, 1963 to Ray and Marie Schmidt at Dickinson, ND. The family lived on a farm siteat the former town of Fayette, ND and moved shortly thereafter to Miles City, MT where the familystarted a Dairy Queen business. Amy grew up a few blocks from the DQ where her parents, brothersand sisters all had a period of working there as well as Amy.

Amy enjoyed swimming in high school and competed for valedictorian of her class at Sacred Heart.She graduated from Montana State University with an English degree and later moved to Fort worth, TXwhere she met her husband Mike Ray in 1997. In 2001 Amy set out on her own as a contract editorwhen her employer Harcourt Brace was sold. For years she edited textbooks for various authors. Amyand Mike also started a rental home business acquiring homes and using the profit to pay down theloans on their single family rental homes.

Through the years Amy and Mike traveled to many places including Alaska, Hawaii, Greece, Italy, variousstops in Mexico and Canada. Also a number of gatherings in fun places with Amy’s seven brothers andsisters. Amy was active in HOA activities and beloved by all. Amy’s smile, wit and dry humor would lightup the room anywhere we went.

Amy was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Marie Schmidt. She is survived by her husband Mikeand siblings Ray and Terri Schmidt, Phoenix AZ, Cindy and Kevin Klein, Boise ID, Mary and Steven Kincaid,Richland WA, Rita Atkinson, Billings MT, Lucy and Dana Kruse, Seattle WA, Tom and Penny Schmidt,Lompoc CA and Julie and Nick Grubich, Richland WA.

Amy's Service will be held Tuesday, October 29th @ 1:00 PM for an open visitation, following @ 2:00 PM will be her funeral service at Roberts-Martinez Funeral Home, located at 4200 Denton Highway, Haltom City, TX, 76117. 

Amy will be buried at St. Edwards Cemetery in Fayette, ND close to her parents. The burial date will be mid 2025.
