Catherine (Cathy) Huntley died peacefully with family at her side on April 17, 2011, following a month-long battle with complications from a stroke. Cathy was born on November 29, 1930, on the family farm near Plevna, MT, to Michael and Catherine (Stern) O?Brien. She attended primary school in Plevna and Webster, MT, and often told stories of how she, her brothers and sisters would ride ponies to school each day. Cathy graduated from Sacred High School and from the Presentation School of Nursing in Miles City, MT. She worked as a registered nurse in Wyoming and Eastern Montana until marrying attorney Gene Huntley. Together they raised five children in Baker, MT. Cathy was known for her creativity. There was never a craft or recipe or skill she couldn?t learn and do well. Later in life she became an accomplished artist in oil and water color. Her creativity was also apparent in the festive celebrations she hosted. Her good sense of humor, generous spirit and deep sense of kindness were gifts to those who knew her. Cathy loved her Irish heritage. She celebrated St. Patrick?s Day with gusto and encouraged her children to do the same. Visiting Ireland was one of her fondest foreign travel adventures. Although Cathy had many interests, her greatest love was her family. She was especially proud of and devoted to her children and their families, as well as to her sister Helen Braycich and the Braycich family. Cathy is survived by her children, Jeannie (Harley Rutherford) of MT; Patty (Steve Nelson) of CO; John (Xuen) of MT; Jim (Heather) of CO; two grandchildren, Gene and Michael; two step-grandchildren, Brodee and Emma, as well as one sister, Helen Braycich and brother-in-law Joseph Braycich of Belgium; nieces Martho Jo Braycich, Mary Ann Braycich and Malena Braycich; and nephew Michael Braycich. She was preceded in death by her parents, five of her siblings, Glenn O?Brien, Emmett O?Brien, Julia O?Brien and infants Mae O?Brien and James O?Brien; husband Gene Huntley, and son Ray Huntley.
