Cecil passed away on Monday, July 26, 2010, at his home south of Werner. Cecil ?Bud? Cook was born to Fred and Agnes (Edington) Cook at Werner, ND. He grew up and attended school in Werner. Cecil married the love of his life, Gertrude Hagel, on August 17, 1945, in Billings, MT. They lived in Billings for a short time where Cecil worked at the Sugar Beet Factory. They later moved back to North Dakota to farm at Werner where Cecil resided until his death. Cecil?s first love was his family, and he truly enjoyed everyone coming home to get together for gatherings at the farm, the latest gathering just being a couple of weeks ago. Some of his favorite times were the times he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren when they came to visit. He always had the cards out, challenging anyone to a good game of cards, whether it was pinochle or crazy rummy. He enjoyed riding his four-wheeler, checking things out on the farmstead or driving the countryside checking out crops. He was proud of his sons, and when they were younger, always enjoyed going to their basketball games and activities. He especially was proud to belong to the North Dakota Official?s Association as he occasionally got to referee some of their ball games. He also served on the Werner School Board. Cecil is survived by five sons, Clayton (Marlene), Killdeer, ND, Wayne (Shelly), New Town, ND, Perry (Bonnie), Bismarck, ND, Macy (Janet), Garfield, KS, and Quincey (Lauren), Boise, ID; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, Michelle (Herb) Quamme, Charlie Cook, Chance Cook, Dan (Jen) Cook and their daughters, Hannah, Lilly, and Ashlyn, Pamela Cook, Chris Cook, Cory (Amber) Cook and their daughters, Payton, Madelyn and Regan, Charles Cook, Dauna (Todd) Herman and their children, Kadan and Kirah, Jayson (Stephanie) and their children, Hannah and Logan, and Jeremy (Sarah) Cook; sister, Willa Lunceford, Smelterville, ID; two sisters-in-law, Katherine Alpert, Dickinson, ND, and Margaret Hagel, Yakima, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
