A Funeral Mass for Cecilia Betchner, 85, of Dickinson, ND, will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October, 26, 2019 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Msgr. Patrick Schumacher celebrating. Burial will take place in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.

Visitation for Cecilia will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson with a Rosary and Vigil service taking place at 6:00 p.m.

Cecilia passed away on October 13, 2019, at St. Ben’s Nursing Home in Dickinson, North Dakota. Poetically, she left this world 25 years to the day after the love of her life, Frank, passed away.

Cecilia was born June 24, 1934 in Dickinson, the daughter of John & Rose (Messer) Godes. She grew up on the family farm near Dickinson. As a young adult she moved to Dickinson where she attended Nursing School for 2 years earning the title of LPN. For Cecilia’s entire nursing career she was employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital for over 30 years. Cecilia married Frank Betchner in St. Clement’s Catholic Church, in Haymarsh, North Dakota. They farmed near New England and then moved to Dickinson to raise their growing family. The couple were blessed with four children, Michael, Patty, Rose & Reyne.

Cecilia loved being a part of the community volunteering for years at the local thrift shop. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Church with her faith being a key part of her life, also volunteering with the St. Anne’s Alter Society, and Catholic Daughters of America. In her spare time Cecilia loved knitting blankets, her famous multi-colored baby blankets forever ingrained in her family’s memories. She also enjoyed crocheting, cross stitching and reading to keep herself busy. She loved cooking and baking and spending time with her family.

Cecilia is survived by her son, Mike (Mary) Betchner of Santee, California; daughters, Patty Butsch of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Rose (Kevin) Crown of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Reyne (Kevin) Westbrook of Lakeside, California; grandchildren Dustin Crown, Kevin Westbrook Jr., Maryah Betchner, Kylie Westbrook, Kevin Crown. Jr., Kaden Westbrook and McKenzie Betchner; brother Quentin Godes; sisters Patricia Johnson of South Dakota, and Jeanette Feser of Bismark, ND.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, John and Rose Godes; her husband, Frank Betchner; siblings, Isadore Godes, Lorraine Messer, Adeline Weinand, Al Godes and Giles Godes.
