Cecilia Obrigewitch

Funeral Mass for Cecilia Irene Obrigewitch, 69, of Belfield, ND, will be Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at 9:00 am at St. Bernard?s Catholic Church, Belfield, ND with Father Shannon Lucht celebrating. Burial will be in the St. Bernard?s Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be from 12:00 p. m. to 3:00 p. m. , Monday, October 24, 2011 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. Visitation will continue from 4:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. at St. Bernard?s Catholic Church, Belfield, with a Rosary and Vigil Service being held at 6:00 pm. Coffee will be served at the St. Bernard?s Parish Center after the Vigil. Cecilia Obrigewitch passed away peacefully on October 20, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family. Cecilia was born on September 21, 1942 to Samuel L. and Antoinette (Sauvageau) Kessler in Dickinson, ND. She grew up and attended country school south of Belfield, ND. She attended St. Mary?s High School in New England, ND for two years; and then graduated from Belfield High School in 1961. She attended Dickinson State College and the Sisters of Notre Dame School in Mankato, Minnesota for a short time. Cecilia married Bertram (Bud) Obrigewitch on January 12, 1963, at St. Bernard?s Catholic Church in Belfield. They began their married life in Wyoming and then moved back to Belfield ND where they lived all of their married life. In 1993, they purchased a ranch north of Belfield. Cecilia?s entire life revolved around her family. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed gardening, baking and taking care of and spoiling her grandchildren. Cecilia always took time to help her family no matter the circumstances. She was a member of St. Bernard?s Catholic Church all of her life and the Christian Mother?s Guild. Cecilia had a Holy Hour of Adoration for at least 46 years. Cecilia was an excellent example of what it means to be a Wife, Mother, Grandmother and friend. She was a humble person who put others before herself. She was a kind and compassionate person who dedicated her life to God, her husband and children. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Cecilia is survived by her husband of 48 years, Bud; Mother In Law, Bertha Obrigewitch, Belfield, ND; her children, Annette (Chuck) Steffan, Belfield, ND, Duane (Lisa) Obrigewitch, Belfield, ND; Michael (Diana) Obrigewitch, Belfield, ND; Lynn (Jim) Arthaud, Medora, ND; Wes Obrigewitch, Belfield, ND; Joan (Shane) Martin, Prineville, OR; Allen (Alisha) Obrigewitch, Belfield, ND; 14 Grandchildren, Tellan Steffan, Laura Steffan, Quinn Steffan, Kendra Palaniuk, Lacy Obrigewitch, Mara Obrigewitch, Tanner Obrigewitch, Reid Obrigewitch, Anna Obrigewitch, Mikayla Obrigewitch, Braden Obrigewitch, Noah Obrigewitch, Grace Arthaud, Hudson Arthaud; two sisters, Nora Gawel, Norwalk, CA, Margaret (Howard) Nelson, Fairfield, CA; three brothers, Charles (Connie) Kessler, Bismarck, AR; Raymond (Cathy) Kessler, Bowman, ND, James (Cindee) Kessler, Ross, ND, Sister?s in Law; Charolette Hlebechuck, Belfield, ND, Gloria Weber, Joliet, MT, Rose Obrigewitch, Seattle, WA, Nita (Curt) Talkington, Belfield, ND; Brothers in Law, Cliff Obrigewitch, Sentinel Butte, ND, Claude (Ruth) Obrigewitch, Belfield, ND, Maurice (Bernie) Obrigewitch, Belfield, ND, Val (Carol) Obrigewitch , Sentinel Butte, ND, Tony Obrigewitch, Belfield, ND, Tim Obrigewitch, Meadow, SD and Terry Obrigewitch, Meadow, SD. She has a lot of nieces and nephews. Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Antoinette; Father In Law, Anton Obrigewitch, Sisters in Law, Gertie Obrigewitch, Karen Obrigewitch; Brothers in Law, Albert Hlebechuk, Gerald Obrigewitch and Jerry Weber.
