Cecilia Thomas

A Liturgy of the Word service for Cecilia Thomas, 88, of Dickinson, will be 10:00 a. m. , Monday, August 24, 2015 at Stevenson Funeral Home with Deacon Dallas Carlson celebrating. Burial will take place in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND. Cecilia passed away August 18, 2015 at St. Benedicts Health Center in Dickinson. Cecilia was born February 6, 1927 in Napoleon, ND, the daughter of John and Eva (Roehrich) Reis. She grew up and attended school in the Linton/Braddock area. On July 24, 1945, Cecilia married Matt Thomas in Bismarck. To this union their son, Eugene “Gene” Thomas was born. Cecilia worked as a nurse’s aide all of her life in various cities. Cecilia enjoyed gardening, dancing and volunteering with music in the nursing homes. She was a member of the Dickinson Eagles and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Cecilia always wanted to be remembered as the “cucumber lady. “Cecilia is survived by her siblings, Albinus of Bismarck, Lawrence of Federal Way, WA, Steve of Tucson, AZ, Patty of Lakewood CO; grandchildren Matthew (Jennifer) Thomas of Columbus, MT, Stacy Ditty of Sidney, MT, and Jeffrey (Lindsey) of Knoxville, TN; and six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Eva; husband, Matt; son, Eugene; brothers, Melchoir and John; sisters, Magdelena and Rosalie.
