Charlene passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014 at her home in Dickinson. Charlene Dutchuk was born August 21, 1955 in Dickinson, the daughter of Nick W. and Ann V. (Pedeliski) Dutchuk. She was raised in Dickinson, attended Roosevelt Elementary School and graduated from Dickinson High School in 1973. While in high school, Charlene began working at Fairway Foods Grocery Store. She later went to work for Dean’s Meat Market and the meat department of Dan’s Super Market. On July 12, 1980, Charlene married Leo Hubert at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Lefor, ND. The couple made their home in Dickinson, where they raised their daughters, Tosha and Chantel. Charlene was a kind hearted lady who treated everyone she met as a friend, always making sure no one went without a gift from her. She was very determined and strong willed, which was evident in her battle with cancer, of which she was a survivor for 9 years. The support system she gained while fighting cancer was the beginning of many new friendships for her. Charlene worked at Dan’s until her health forced her to retire. She kept in touch with coworkers and visited them while grocery shopping. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, collecting angels, cooking, and playing bingo. She was an avid bowler for over 30 years, achieving a 165 game average. Charlene had a green thumb and enjoyed caring for flowers. She loved listening to music and she loved her pets, especially her dog, Buddy. Charlene was very family-orientated, making sure she spent time with her brothers and sisters, especially around the holidays. The entire family would gather and eat traditional Ukrainian food, all made by the family. She also cared deeply for Leo and her daughters. She would always make time to stop by Tosha’s house in Dickinson just to visit or make a trip to Bismarck with Leo to see Chantel. Charlene was very involved in her faith and she was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Charlene is survived by her husband, Leo; daughters, Tosha (Scott) Frank of Dickinson and Chantel Hubert (boyfriend, Mitch Keller) of Bismarck; brothers, John (Louise) Dutchuk, Sam Dutchuk and Robert (Renee Serienko) all of Dickinson; sisters, Marge (Howard) Dengel, Shirl (Andrew) Pavlicek and Marlene (Leonard) Pavlicek all of Dickinson; sister-in-law, Sharon Dutchuk of Bismarck; Leo’s siblings and in-laws; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Joe Dutchuk; and infant daughter, Chelsie Hubert.
