Charles Miller

Charles M. Miller, 71 of Glen Ullin, died Sunday, February 10, 2008, after a battle with cancer, at his home in Glen Ullin, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Central time on Friday, February 15, 2008 at the Evangelical Congregational Church in Glen Ullin. Visitation will be on Thursday after 4:00 PM at the church in Glen Ullin with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Burial will be in the Glen Ullin Cemetery. Chuck was born May 31, 1936, at Winthrop, MN, the son of Carl and Sophie (Schmidgall) Miller. He was raised on a farm near Winthrop and educated at the Winthrop School. After graduating, he entered the US Army on August 18, 1954 where he served on a ship off the coast of Alaska. He was discharged on August 16, 1956. Following discharge he attended college at Fargo and studied electronics. He married Carol Ocker Feb. 21, 1968 in Fargo. He worked for Simplex Time Recorder Company in Fargo and later at Bismarck. They decided to move to a smaller town and chose Glen Ullin. Chuck later worked for the Coyote plant at Beulah, Bechtold Construction and Morton County in the Road Maintenance Dept. until he retired. In his retirement years Chuck enjoyed driving school bus for the Glen Ullin School district. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, and puzzles in his spare time, and was at one time a member of the Glen Ullin Lions. Chuck is survived by his wife Carol, Glen Ullin, his children: Becky (Billy) Dillmann, Mandan, ND; Stacy Miller, Fargo, ND; Leland (Lisa) Miller, Bismarck, ND; Lonny Miller, Fargo, ND; Lynnett (Mark) Herz, Fargo, ND; Larry Miller, Fargo, ND; and Laurie (Steve) Crowe, Selah, WA; 13 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. He also leaves one sister: Myrtle (Vern) Gieseke, New Ulm, MN; and one brother: Sam (Sandy) Miller, Winthrop, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents.
