Clara Hanel

A Liturgy of the Word Service for Clara Hanel, 75, Elgin, formerly of Dickinson, will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Stevenson Funeral Home with Deacon Bob Stockert celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.


Visitation for Clara will be from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 4, 2018 with a rosary and vigil service being held at 6:00 p.m.


Clara passed away unexpectedly at her home in Elgin on Tuesday, May 29, 2018.


Clara Marie Reisenauer was born February 14, 1943, in Dickinson, the daughter of George and Kathryn (Olheiser) Reisenauer.  She grew up in Dickinson and attended Dickinson Public Schools. After receiving her education, she met Marvin Hanel and the two were married on October 22, 1960 in Dickinson. To this union five children were born:  Karen, Melvin, Patrick, Nancy, and Connie. Clara enjoyed spending the last 24 years with her life partner Galen Kadrmas.


Clara loved being with her children and grandchildren. She spent much of her time baking and tending to her yard and garden.


Clara is survived by her children, Karen (Elvis) Wanner of AZ, Melvin (Melanie) Hanel of Dickinson, Patrick Hanel of Bismarck, Nancy Hanel (Todd Koppinger) of Lincoln, and Connie (Kelly) Anderson of New Leipzig; grandchildren, Jessica (Brett) Henne, Nicole Hanel, Luke Hanel, Madelyn Hanel, Patrick Hanel, Kimberly (Garrison) Risner, Brittany Anderson, Kattie Anderson, and Bailey Anderson; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Alex Henne;  brothers, Philip Reisenauer and Arnold (Rita) Reisenauer;  and life partner, Galen Kadrmas.


She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Kathryn Reisenauer; husband, Marvin; brothers, Mike, Ralph, Walter, Peter, Eugene, Paul, Jimmy; and sisters, Magdalene, Irene and Rose.
