On November 21, 2013, Clara was called to rest after a 2 1/2 year battle with malignant melanoma at St. Benedict’s Health Center in Dickinson.
Clara was born on December 8, 1949 to John and Margaret (Theede) Dengel and lived in Brenkenridge, MN until she moved to New England, ND at the age of five. She married Ronald N. Rebel and soon was busy raising six children. If that didn’t keep her busy enough she worked hard on the farm. After her children were all attending school she attended DSU and graduated with a bachelor’s of science degree in social work in 1993 through the UND. She then accepted a position as a licensed social worker for Sargent County in southeastern North Dakota, where she enjoyed helping people. Through work and church, Sargent County became her second home over the next 20 years. She especially enjoyed shopping and making monster cookies. She worked hard until she absolutely couldn’t anymore. She spent the last four months of her life in Dickinson at St. Benedicts Health Center surrounded by her family and friends. S
She is survived by her daughters, Carmie (Blaise) Emerson, Rapid City, SD, Wanda (Darrin) Hardmeyer, Dickinson, Lourell (PJ) Kuntz, Dickinson, Cindy (Ryan) Schwandt, Burlington and Christy (Jeremy) Ferebee, Clayton, Ohio, and one son, Ronnie (Annette), Dickinson, one brother, Nick (Carlene)Dengel, Prescott Valley, AZ and two sisters, Marie Jordan (Dickinson) and Paulette Nitz (St. Paul). She is survived by seven grandchildren, Elli and Leah Emerson, Kelsey and Nick Kuntz, Paige Schwandt and Marissa and Georgia Ferebee and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Irene McCallum and an infant son, John.
