Clarence Albert Fried, 67, of Baker passed away January 2, 2003, at the Fallon Medical Complex in Baker, following a long illness. He was born December 16, 1935 at the family farm north of Plevna, the youngest son of Edward and Lydia (Ehret) Fried. Clarence grew up and attended schools in the Plevna area. He entered the U. S. Army in December 1957 and was honorably discharged March 1959. Clarence was a 35 year member of the American Legion, Post 35 in Baker. He married Bonnie Rost, January 8, 1961 at Butte, MT. To this union two sons were born, William Scott and Cory Leon. In 1961, Clarence worked for the Wright Tree Service in Bozeman. He then returned to Baker where he began his career as a carpenter. He worked for Herbst Construction, Zachman Construction, A-Frame Lumber and Fullerton Lumber. In 1991, Clarence started his own contracting business with his son Scott until he retired due to ill health. He was very dedicated to his family. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Clarence is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Leon in 1958 and Elmer in 1997. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; two sons: Scott and Cory both of Baker; two sister-in-laws: Norita Fried of Plevna and Jackie Mitchell of Idaho Falls, ID; and three nieces and two nephews. A Prayer Service will be held on Monday, Jan. 6, at 7 PM at the Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker. Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at 11 AM at the American Lutheran Church in Baker. A luncheon will be served following the services. Burial will then take place at the Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Plevna with Military Rites presiding.
