Clarence Klatt, 75, Killdeer, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, October 20, 2004, at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center, Dickinson. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a. m. , Saturday, October 23, 2004, at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church, Killdeer, with Rev. Jerry Ruelle, O. S. B. celebrating. Military Rites will be provided by the Killdeer Area Veterans Drill Team. Interment will be in Oakdale Cemetery, rural Killdeer. Visitation will be Friday at Price-Murphy Funeral Home from 11 a. m. to 2:30 p. m. and will continue at the church in Killdeer beginning at 4 p. m. There will be a parish vigil at 7 p. m. Friday at the church. Visitation will continue Saturday at the Church one hour prior to the service. John Clarence Klatt was born on April 5, 1929, to John and Pernellie (Adams) Klatt in Dunn Center, North Dakota. He attended school in Dunn Center for three years, then moved with his family five miles north of Killdeer and attended school there to the 8th grade. Clarence joined the U. S. Army on February 14, 1951 and was honorably discharged February 14, 1953. He worked for Fettig Brothers Rodeo, Schmidt Brothers, Martin Kleeman and Norval Hartman before and after his army service. Clarence married LaDonna Hawkinson on October 31, 1956. They purchased his father?s farm in 1963 where he has lived for 66 years. Clarence was a member of the American Legion, which he was commander for two years, Charter Member of the Veterans Drill Team for fifty years, of which he was the commander from 1986 to 1996. Clarence also belonged to the VFW and 40 ET 8. Clarence enjoyed being a grandpa to his grandchildren and driving around in his green GMC pickup and four wheeler, watching his cattle and crops grow and telling stories of the past. Clarence is survived by: his wife LaDonna ?Donna?; his children, Karen (Rodney) Breitbach, Bismarck, Darvey Klatt, Killdeer, Dylane (Jeanne) Klatt, Crookston, Minn. , Delvin (Nancy) Klatt, Dickinson; seven grandchildren, Brandi, Kimberly and Jonathan Breitbach, Samantha, Dylan and McKenzie Klatt and Tallon and Baby Klatt; ten brothers and sisters, Margaret Hanson, Moorhead, Minn. , Wilber Klatt, Erskine, Minn. , Dorothy Tillis, Sacramento, Calif. , Shirley (Duane) Hawkinson, Tioga, Herman, Klatt, Aurora, Colo. , Janice Borgan, Moorhead, Minn. , David (Charlotte) Klatt, Manning, Richard Klatt, Billings, Mont. , Doris Lushbough, Rapid City, SD and Linda (Phil) Reinbold, Hanna, Wyo. and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents, John and Pernellie Klatt and one brother, Leslie Klatt. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Killdeer American Legion Club.
