Funeral Services for Clarion Kubas, 61, of Dickinson, ND, will be at 10:00 a. m. , Wednesday, August 18, 2010, the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Josh Ehli celebrating. Burial will follow the service at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson. A Rosary and Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p. m. , Tuesday, August 17, 2010, at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Dickinson. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2010, from 10:00 a. m. to 5:30 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson, continuing at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Dickinson from 6:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. Clarion passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2010, at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center in Dickinson. Clarion was born on December 20, 1948, the son of Albert and Mollie (Tuhy) Kubas in Dickinson, ND. He grew up in Dickinson, attended St. Wenceslaus grade school and graduated from Trinity High School?s second graduating class in 1966. Clarion then attended the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton for two years. On April 25, 1970, he married Shirley Steffan in Dickinson. He worked through the ?70s as a mechanic, and in 1980 he began farming with his father north of South Heart. Along with farming, he also had a mail route which he ran until his death. He served on the Dickinson Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years. Clarion was a member of the Queen of Peace Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, and also served as a pre-marriage counselor through the Parish Council. Clarion played with many different musical groups, most often with the Chuck Kadrmas Band. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, his Corvette, traveling and hunting. Above all, he loved and enjoyed his grandchildren and having his family around. Clarion is survived by his wife, Shirley, Dickinson, ND; three sons, Monte (Susan) Kubas and their children, Zachary, Jacob, Abbey, Dickinson, ND, Craig (Nikki) Kubas and their children, Kylen, Kali, and Camden, Gladstone, ND, and Tyson Kubas, Dickinson, ND; and one daughter, Marquel (Kevin) Berger and their children, Ty, Braedon, Colton and Dylan, Bismarck, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Clayton; one sister, Sharon; and his mother-in-law, Mildred Steffan. Memorials may be given to Trinity High School in memory of Clarion Kubas.
