Funeral Mass for Clement Oster, 77, of Dickinson, ND will be 2 p. m. , Friday, January 23, 2009 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Father Jeff Zwack celebrating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Military Rites will be presented by the Dickinson Veteran?s Drill Team. Visitation will be 11 a. m. to 9 p. m. , Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, ND with a rosary and vigil service taking place at 7 p. m. Visitation will continue on Friday from 9 a. m. to 1 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home. Clem passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at St. Luke?s Home in Dickinson. Clement John Oster was born October 15, 1931 on the family farm near Hirschville, ND. He grew up and attended school at St. Mary?s in Richardton and later St. Joseph?s Catholic School in Dickinson. Clem worked for an electrician and was able to help wire the first oil well near Belfield. He later worked for Heaton Lumber Company as well at the State Highway Department, before entering the U. S. Army. Clem served as a Staff Sergeant for two years during the Korean War before being honorably discharged and returning home to Dickinson. On September 6, 1955 Clem married Ida Heidt at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church south of Belfield. The couple made their home in Dickinson and it was during this time that Clem attended classes at Dickinson State College and worked at J. C. Penny?s partime. After he received his degree, Clem worked as an insurance adjuster which led him to Minot, ND. The family returned to Dickinson nine years later when Clem purchased Spot Adjustment Co. He and Ida operated the insurance adjusters business until they retired in 2001. Clem enjoyed doing his cross word puzzles as well as tinkering on anything that might need fixing around the house or office. Clem was very active in the community, serving on St. Joseph?s Hospital Board for 15 years, Knights of Columbus – 4th Degree Knight, Past Grand Knight in Minot, Life member of Eagles and Elks as well as Professional Insurance Agents and The ND 1752 Club. Clem is survived by his wife, Ida of Dickinson, ND; son, Gary (Linda) Oster, Bismarck, ND; daughters, Cindy (Rod) Jaeger, Dickinson, ND, Wanda (Gregg Pelton) Oster, Bismarck, ND, Brenda (Michael) Kvamme, Pine City, MN; 5 grandchildren, Jadon & Ashlyn Jaeger; Kelsey, Taylor & Lauren Oster, and expecting grandchild # 6 in April; great-grandchild, Zachary Breiner; brothers, Leo (Nellie) Oster, Bismarck, ND, Felix (Kay) Oster, Milpitas, CA; Robert (Jackie) Oster, Dickinson, ND; sister, Agnes (Chris) Heim, Mandan, ND; sisters-in-law, Fern Oster, Bismarck, ND and Bernice Oster, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews. Clem is preceded in death by both of his parents, brothers, Jack and Frank Oster and an infant brother; sister-in-law Barbara Oster.
