Clifford was born January 15, 1930 in Carrollville, WI, to Irving and Edna (Walters) DuCharme. He grew up and attended country school in Sue Coulee, WI. At the age of 16, he began working at a dairy farm in Wisconsin. In 1950 Clifford came to southeastern Montana where he helped on a few different farms and ranches in the area. Shortly after, he was drafted to the service. Clifford served in the Army on the Korean front line from 1950-1953. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Plevna to help work on a local farm, it was during this time that he met his wife. Clifford married Ruth Bechtold on January 15, 1956 at the Plevna Baptist Church. To this union six children were born; Judy, Marlene, Karla, Kimberly, Cindy, and Kelly. Together they moved their family to a farm southwest of Baker. It was here that they made their home. Clifford farmed until he had a stroke in January of 2008. His love of farming never stopped even though he was physically unable to continue the daily routine. Besides Clifford’s love of farming and going to auction sales, he especially loved going fishing with the grandchildren and listening to old-time music, such as polkas. Clifford served on the GTA Elevator Board and the Cenex Farmer’s Union Board, and was active at his local church until his stroke. Clifford is survived by his wife, Ruth of Baker, MT; daughters, Judy (Donald) Sparks of Bowman, ND, Marlene (Lynn) Marlow of Shawnee, OK, Karla (Jim) Miller of Glendive, MT, Kimberly (Kevin) Price of Plentywood, MT, and Cindy (Wes) Freistone of Anchorage, AK; son, Kelly (Phyllis) DuCharme of Baker, MT; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, John DuCharme of Boscobel, WI, Charles (Shirley) DuCharme of Prairie Du Chien, WI, and Irving (Carol) DuCharme of Prairie Du Chien, WI; and special family friends Carmie (Larry) Steffes of Plevna, MT and their three children. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Delores Cooley; sister-in-law, Stella DuCharme, and brother-in-law Robert Cooley.
