A Funeral service for Clifford Knudson, 81, of New Salem, will be 11:00 a. m. CST, Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Peace Church in New Salem with Pastor Eddy officiating.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p. m. to 2:00 p. m. CST, at Elm Crest Manor in New Salem and will continue on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at Peace Church.
Clifford passed away Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Elm Crest Manor in New Salem, ND.
Clifford C. Knudson was born November 8, 1931, in Almont to Carl and Roxie (Boicourt) Knudson. He was raised in Almont and graduated from Almont High School. In his younger years he was involved in rodeo and was part of the award winning Sims stake race team. After graduation he drove truck, delivered mail, and worked at the north unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park with is grandfather. On November 21, 1964, he married Doris Ramsland in Brooklyn, NY, and they made their home on the original farm and ranch. He worked with his father for a number of years and they purchased the farm in 1976 when his father retired. Clifford and Doris retired from farming and moved to a home in Salem in 1999. He enjoyed traveling and helping out at his daughter and son-in-law’s farm until his health failed and he enter Elm Crest Manor in September 2011.
He is survived by his wife Doris; his daughters and son-in-laws, Fay and Larry Doll of New Salem and Joy and Nathan Fetting of Detroit Lakes, MN; and one grandson Jasper whose visits lit up grandpa’s day. He is also survived by four sisters and two brothers-in-law; Rita and Marvin Hewitt of Sierra Vista, AZ; Coleen Heid and Joan Johnson of New Salem; Ramona and Clay Sorneson of Bismarck; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brother-in-laws, Wilbert Heid and Duane Johnson.
