Colin Edward Cameron was born on February 18, 1926, the son of Ross and Janette (Smart) Cameron in Hawley, MN. He moved with his parents as a young boy to Fallon County where he attended various country schools throughout the county. Cog, as all of his friends called him enlisted into the United States Marine Corps on November 16, 1943 at the age of 17. He served during the Iwo Jima campaign and in Japan during World War II. Cog was honorably discharged on May 27, 1946. He returned to Fallon County where he met and married Jean Cook on June 15, 1952 in Sentinel Butte, ND. He and Jean continued to make Baker their home since that time. He was an active member of the Baker Community Church which he served on many boards and helped in various capacities over the years. He was also a member of the American Legion.
